The First Day at School

 The First Day at School

Emma had never felt so nervous. Today was her first day at a new school, and she didn’t know anyone. As she walked through the school gates, she held tightly onto her backpack, her heart pounding in her chest.

The schoolyard was loud and bustling with kids laughing, talking, and running around. Emma stood near the entrance, unsure where to go. A group of kids nearby was playing a game of tag, but Emma didn’t know how to join in.

The bell rang, and Emma followed the other kids to her classroom. Her teacher, Mr. Clark, greeted her with a warm smile. “Welcome, Emma! We’re happy to have you here.” He introduced her to the class and showed her to her seat.

At recess, Emma sat on a bench, feeling lonely. She missed her old school and her friends. Just as she was about to open her lunchbox, a girl with curly hair and a big smile walked over.

“Hi, I’m Mia,” the girl said. “Do you want to play on the swings with me?”

Emma’s face lit up. “Sure!”

As they swung back and forth, Mia told Emma about the best parts of the school, like the big library and the Friday pizza lunches. Emma started to feel more at ease.

By the end of the day, Emma had made three new friends and even answered a question in class. As she walked home, she realized the first day wasn’t so scary after all.
